Why Me?

I have no interest in raising my personal profile, but in the interests of transparency and, if possible, persuasion:

  • I have an eclectic background thanks to insatiable curiosity and the good fortune to pursue higher education at several different institutions. My academic and professional background are primarily in security and policy, but I've benefited from formal opportunities to learn about everything from biomedical ethics to oil markets.

  • I am pathologically inclined to focus on not being wrong, rather than having a particular attachment to always being right. This makes it easier for me to reserve judgment and revise my views in light of new evidence or lines of reasoning.

  • I never outgrew the tendency to ask "why?" over and over.

  • I lack the sort of affiliations that make it easier for people to dismiss me as a presumed antagonist.
